"Dominic Nunns...and his flamboyant conducting style produced some fine performances from the area's premier orchestra." Braintree Times

Dominic began conducting whilst at Durham University where he was appointed conductor of, in turn, the Chamber Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra, each for one year. This culminated in a performance of Shostakovich's Tenth Symphony in the impressive setting of Durham Cathedral.
After graduating from Durham with a starred First, he then went to the Royal College of Music where he studied conducting with Neil Thomson and John Carewe. Subsequently he has received conducting tuition from Ivan Fischer and Paavo Järvi.
Upon moving to London Dominic founded and conducted the Marylebone Chamber Orchestra. This exciting young professional orchestra acquired a reputation for imaginative and polished performances during a series of concerts between 1998 and 2003. This led to two appearances on Channel 4 Television and a recording funded by Arts Council England.
Following an MCO concert the Ham and High newspaper described Dominic Nunns as "a conductor to watch out for". Follow the links for more information about MCO and for an audio sample.
In 2008 Dominic made his debut conducting the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra for recordings of his own music for The Wrong Door and part of Miklos Rozsa's El Cid.
During a two-year spell as Orchestral Manager of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, Dominic was also asked to conduct a rehearsal of Kai by Mark Anthony Turnage in preparation for a performance at the Cheltenham Festival. He also organised and conducted various informal performances on the orchestra's residential courses.
Dominic taught for one year at the National Conservatory of Music in Ramallah, Palestine; during that year he also freelanced in various orchestras in Israel. Dominic created and conducted the Ramallah Sinfonia (2000) in what was thought to be the first ever Palestinian orchestral concert. Teachers combined with the leading students to perform Mozart's Symphony No. 27 in what was generally agreed to be a special occasion.
As a horn-player Dominic has played under and studied the techniques of some of the world's greatest conductors including Sir Colin Davis, James Levine, Lorin Maazel, Paavo Järvi, Charles Dutoit, Mark Elder, Daniele Gatti, Asher Fisch and Paul Daniel.
Dominic is a guest teacher and conductor at London's Royal Academy of Music, Junior Academy. He has also conducted a large number of other youth and amateur orchestras and choirs including the Brighton Youth Orchestra, Brit School Choir, Colne Philharmonic Orchestra, Horsham Symphony Orchestra, Worthing Philharmonic Orchestra, Musicians of All Saints, Sussex Chorus and the Sussex Symphony Orchestra.
